Why send Bullies to training classes?

While many bullies are aware that they are purposely hurting people, many other bullies are unaware they have been bullying people through their unthinking actions and behavior. These bullies lack the interpersonal and managerial skills they need to stop inadvertently bullying people.

The Dunning-Kruger effect describes why incompetent managers continue their bullying behavior.
Dunning and Kruger proposed that, for a given skill, incompetent people will:
  1. fail to recognize their own lack of skill;
  2. fail to recognize genuine skill in others;
  3. fail to recognize the extremity of their inadequacy;
  4. recognize and acknowledge their own previous lack of skill, if they are exposed to training for that skill.
So, perhaps some bullies will recognize and acknowledge their own previous lack of skill if they attend anti-bullying training classes that specifically addresses their behavior.

Or perhaps not. But it's worth a try.
"Bullying is never about their target. It's about how insecure the Bully feels."
"Bullying exists because of a lack of adult intervention."
"Bullies thrive on secrecy, shame, and the silence of others."
"Why do Bullies bully? Because management and their co-workers allow them to."        (from a variety of people)
